BMIHMS STUDENTS FLOWN TO CAMBODIA FOR SALA BAI OPENING
蓝山国际酒店管理学院(BMIHMS)学术研究主管(Head of Academic Studies) - 悉尼校区和劳瑞特大学(Laureate)的Here for Good奖项得主,Simon Pawson说:

BMIHMS STUDENTS FLOWN TO CAMBODIA FOR SALA BAI OPENING
BMIHMS recently sent its two Student Representative Council (SRC) presidents to Cambodia as official representatives for the opening of the new Sala Bai Hotel School campus in Cambodia.
The official opening was held on Saturday 27 February and was attended by several Cambodian Government Ministers, the French Ambassador to Cambodia, donors and supporters of Sala Bai.
Sala Bai is a free hotel school based in Siem Reap and every year, 100 young, underprivileged and often orphaned Cambodian teenagers attend to gain kitchen, restaurant, housekeeping and front of house skills.
Since 2004, BMIHMS has contributed more than $170,000, and has also sent over teachers and graduates to work on and develop programs, along with donating computers, books and other essential items and we’re thrilled to be part of the opening on their new campus.
BMIHMS Head of Academic Studies – Sydney and Laureate Here for Good Ambassador, Simon Pawson, said:
“Through our students, the ongoing support of Sala Bai is a great example of what BMIHMS is all about – the development of young leaders with high level business and practical skills, and a keen sense of corporate social responsibility.
“Giving our students the opportunity to witness firsthand the social and economic complexities in the developing world, and also how organisations such as Sala Bai are making a substantial difference to the lives of young people is a really rewarding experience for all of us at BMIHMS,” he said.
BMIHMS Sydney SRC President, Tavishi Khanna, said of the experience:
“I had a remarkable experience at the Sala Baï Hotel School. The enthusiasm and effort that went into our visit was very humbling. The best part of the visit was the two days we spent in class with the Sala Baï students. I was awestruck by their dedication and motivation to overcome their current economic situation through education. It gives me an immense sense of pride to know that the BMIHMS family has contributed to the success of this School.”
BMIHMS at Torrens University General Manager, Jerome Casteigt, said:
“Currently, Sala Baï continues the remarkable achievement of 100% graduate placement in hospitality positions. This accomplishment is even more heartening when we remember that, on average, every Sala Baï graduate supports 10 family members via their income. We look forward to continuing our commitment to this worthwhile cause with other initiatives in the future,” he said.
About Sala Bai
Sala Bai was established in Cambodia to address low school attendance among the population, and in particular the huge drop out rate of young girls leaving to help at home or get married. The School works to ensure greater vocational opportunities for its students, providing them with hospitality training and assisting them to find work on graduation.
