1999届毕业生

       从蓝山毕业后，我在酒店开始了职业生涯。接下来的两年里，我主要在客房部工作。

       之后，我开始管理一家为悉尼和墨尔本的每一家酒店输送客房部员工的公司。

       在客房部工作4年后，我觉得是该做一些“不同”事情的时候了。我买了一个咖啡馆，离职经营自己的企业。大量的辛勤工作和奉献后，我成功经营了一家忙碌的咖啡馆，3年后，我卖掉了它。

       随后，我经历一场职业变化。我得到了一家很棒的IT公司的工作机会，我接受了这份工作一直没有回头，目前我在一家总部位于悉尼的顶级酒店技术提供商SiteMinder工作。

       我在SiteMinder的职位是负责亚洲的大客户经理，从本质而言职责多元化。我负责亚洲地区的主要客户，覆盖世界第三大酒店、最高级酒店和高端技术酒店。旅游是我永远都觉得不满足的好处之一！我在蓝山学到的知识和技能给了我探索不同职业道路的自由，为我提供了许多职业能力和个人能力发展的机会。

      我希望鼓励我的学弟学妹和毕业生能够跳出固有的思维框架。酒店行业有许多有趣的工作，你不必非限制在酒店工作。想想你热爱什么，开放思想，尝试不同的事情。

GRADUATE 1999:

After graduatingfrom BMHMS, I started my career in hotels. For the next two years I workedmostly within Rooms Division throughout Sydney.

Following this, Imanaged a labour hire company supplying housekeeping staff to just about everyhotel in Sydney and Melbourne. 

After four yearsworking in the Rooms Division field I decided it was time to do something alittle ‘different’. I bought a café and made a go of running my own business.With a huge amount of hard work and dedication, I successfully operated a busycafé which I sold after three years. 

This was followedby an extreme career change. The opportunity to work for an exciting IT companycame along and I have not looked back since I now work for SiteMinder, a leadinghotel technology provider which is Head Quartered in Sydney. 

My role at SiteMinder is the Key Account Manager for Asiaand highly diverse in nature. I am responsible for major clients within theAsian region, and these range from the world’s 3rd biggest hotel to some of themost exclusive and premium properties to high profile technology vendors. Thetravelling is one of the perks I just can’t enough of! The skills and knowledgethat I learned from BMIHMS has given me the freedom to explore different pathsand provide me many opportunities to grow both in a professional and personalcapacity. After years of searching for that ‘perfect’ career, I finally found acreative and fast paced industry that allows me to combine my skills in IT andknowledge in hospitality. 

I’d like to urgeour fellow students and graduates to think outside the box. There are so manyinteresting hospitality industry jobs out there and you are not just limited toworking in hotels. Think about what your passion is, be open minded try outdifferent things.
