Sydney, Australia is an amazing city to live in with so many different things to do every day. It is an extremely multi-cultural city and I believe people of all nationalities would be able to find things that they enjoy. I personally love going to the beach and doing things outdoors. My two favourite beaches are Coogee and Maroubra, located in the Eastern Suburbs. If it is not warm enough to swim and tan, I really enjoy going for coastal walks. There is a trail from Coogee to Bondi that has spectacular views and it’s good exercise!
Another thing I love about Sydney is the markets. Pretty much every suburb has markets on Saturdays or Sundays throughout the year. They are fun to go to because you can find cool clothes, fun jewelry, and unique gifts that you can’t find at any normal retail stores. Markets are also fun to just walk around and explore without having to purchase anything. Typically they have delicious food stalls as well. Yum! The best markets that I’ve been to so far are in The Rocks, Paddington, and Kirribilli.
A great thing about living in Sydney, Australia is the restaurants and cafes. Anywhere you are you’ll be able to find a good meal and a good cup of coffee or tea. The fact that the city is so multicultural lends itself to a diverse range of dining options. There are great Asian restaurants, Mediterranean restaurants, Latin restaurants, and of course traditional Australian restaurants. Everywhere you look there are also nice cafés to get a delicious brunch and your morning caffeine boost.
Outside of the Sydney area there are incredible landscapes and cute towns to visit. You can take day trips to places just a few hours outside of Sydney. A beautiful place to visit is obviously the Blue Mountains. There you can bushwalk through the mountain trails and explore the shops and cafes at Leura and Katoomba. Another day trip you could take is to the Hunter Valley for wine tasting. There are tours every day that take you through several of the vineyards up in that area. At each one you get to taste different types of wine and cheese. It’s a very sensory experiences. I’ve been to both of these places and really enjoyed them.
These are just a few of the MANY things there are to do in Sydney! I’m looking forward to finding more and more.
