As a student, I have been living in Sydney for over 3 months now, and I must say: what a great place to live! Being a Californian at heart, Sydney reminds me of a combo of two of the best cities from my home state, Los Angeles and San Fransisco. Many will argue that the cost of living is quite high, but the quality of living is quite high as well. The views from the harbours and bridges are unlike any I have ever seen. And the weather has been great, except for the occasional rain during the winter months.
What makes Sydney a great place to study hospitality is its shear value as a tourist and immigration destination. The diversity throughout the city is vast. In my opinion even more diverse than my hometown Los Angeles, where assimilation into a melting pot is desired. Studying in an environment where students and staff retain their ethnic and cultural identities really add to the learning experience and may broaden your perspectives about the global hospitality industry.
It has been a great 3 months so far and I look forward to continuing my education and experiences here in Sydney!
