JYOTIKAS JOURNEY

——Richard Bach,Illusions。

JYOTIKAS JOURNEY
My journey with the Blue Mountains International Hotel Management School began when Idecided to throw my dream of being part of the fastest booming industry in the world, into space like a kite. I had no idea then what it would bring back to me, anew life, a new friend, a new love, a new country or a new family.
I began with the Blue  Mountains International Hotel Management School in September 2010,where my first three months was some of the most challenging of my life. Ispent the whole term in tears fighting with myself, trying to make it throughyear 1 practical combined with the stress over being in a new environment sofar from home, family and friends.
I cannot believe that two years have passed so quickly. Theperson I am today is not the same person who joined this school in September2010, I have grown immensely and this special school and everyone there havecontributed to my growth and the person that I am today.
I never imagined myself making it through to this far. However, with all the encouragement I received from all the teachers, staff andfriends, I forced myself to fight through this difficult, yet beautifuljourney. I could have never imagined myself achieving so much in such a shortspan of time, whether it is adjusting with being away from home, gettingthrough in my studies, joining the Student Council (as Treasurer) or evenjoining the Mentoring Scholarship Program as a Kitchen Mentoring ScholarshipStudent (MSS).
As a part of my course, I was required to complete twoIndustry Placements (internships). I completed my first internship at the MandarinOriental, Bangkokin the Food and Beverage Department. Currently, I am a few weeks fromcompleting my second Industry Placement with the Shangri-La Hotel,Bangkok in theHuman Resources Department. Never did I ever see myself training with suchprestigious and luxurious hotels, but after having given an opportunity at boththese amazing hotels, my dream of working in the Hospitality Industry hasbecome much more.
I bless my stars everyday for gifting me two such wonderful opportunities to work with people who have all had extreme amount ofenergy and love towards teaching me. At both these hotels, I have had theopportunity to learn enormously and gained numerous experiences and knowledge, both about the hospitality industry and the different personalities that I maycome across in life.
I believe that with the opportunities that I had during bothmy Industry Placements, I have become extremely successful in this industry forthe period I am in right now. After just two years of education in this field,I was given the opportunity to do my training with two of Thailand’s leading hotels, Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok an Shangri-La Hotel, Bangkok. I believe that both theseopportunities mark the start of my career for the near future. I have gonethrough both, good and hard times over the pass two years, but it was theencouragement from everyone around me that kept me going. Most importantly, thething that I have achieved most from this beautiful journey in the hospitalityindustry is the relationships that I have made with both, people at the Blue Mountains Hotel School and with people at both myworkplaces (Mandarin Oriental and Shangri-La Hotel, Bangkok).
When my journey began, I also never thought that it would beat the Blue Mountains Hotel School, where I would find my true friends. I have made many friends at the school, whoI could never forget and will remain to be my life long friends. I would liketo say Thank You to everyone who has been a part of this beautiful journey ofmine, starting from my parents, family, P’Ekthana, my teachers, friends, mycolleagues and managers at both my workplaces– you all are the people who sawand accepted me for the person I was, along with teaching me ‘the truth of life,’and is one beautiful reason to the person I am today. I would like to let youall know from the bottom of my heart, that each and everyone of you have playedan extremely big role in my life. Without each and every encouragement andsupport that you all gave to me over the pass two years, I could have nevergotten this far. Thank you to each and every one of you for always teaching mewhat ‘life’ actually is, yet always giving me so much love.
I can’t believe that its been two years since I have beenattached with the beautiful school … It brings tears into my eyes every time Ithink of all the many memories that are joined to this everlastingly place… These memories that I have built over the pass two years during my journey in thehospitality industry – both, at school and my workplaces are the memories thatI will carry with myself throughout.
It has surely been a difficult journey to get through, but asbest described by Christopher Columbus whoonce said, ‘You can never cross the ocean unless you have the courage to losesight of the shore,’ - is in short, my experience with the Blue Mountains Hotel Management Schooland the Hospitality Industry.
I would like to end this message by saying something thateveryone who has been a part of me and my experience in the hospitalityindustry over the pass two years, have always been teaching and reminding me, “You'renever given a dream without also being given the power to make it true.” ― Richard Bach, Illusions
